- Dr. Clarke is a Natural Resources Social Scientist. The Human Dimensions of Natural Resources team studies the human dimensions of natural resource management with a focus on how people manage and conserve forestlands, storm management in urban forests and family forests, invasive plant management among other topics.
- We use a mixed methods approach including qualitative and quantitative social science research methods such as interviews, surveys, focus groups and content analysis to investigate environmental decision making.
- We are broadly interested in social-ecological systems and best practices to engage the community in natural resources topics including forestry, invasive species management, family forest landowners , urban forests, ecosystem services and green infrastructure.

The human dimensions of urban forests (including urban food forests) and how they facilitate urban social resilience, social connectivity and inclusion within cities, especially the barriers and opportunities to enhance human-nature interactions within multicultural and historically underserved communities in the Southeastern U.S.
